Financial Aid

Scholarship Opportunities

All applicants admitted to the JD program are considered for Institutional Scholarships and no additional application is necessary. Scholarship decisions are based primarily on undergraduate academic performance and LSAT scores. Funds are applied to a student's account in two equal disbursements in the fall and spring semesters. Scholarship funds are not available for use during the summer term. Institutional scholarships cannot exceed the direct cost of tuition and excess funds cannot carry over to future semesters. Students must maintain basis satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible for institutional scholarships.

Continuing students can earn additional funds through Endowed Scholarships. Endowed Scholarships are awarded per the donor’s specific criteria. The Endowed Scholarship application cycle begins early spring semester. Scholarship funds are applied to a student's account in two equal disbursements in the fall and spring semesters. Endowed Scholarship funds are not available for use during the summer and endowed scholarships are not renewable.

NOTE: Many endowed scholarships require that a student’s financial need be considered. To determine need, students who wish to be considered for endowed funds should complete an annual FAFSA.

All students may apply for Outside Scholarships. Capital University Law School maintains a list of scholarships available through businesses, associations, and private donors from around the country.  Amounts, deadlines, and criteria can be found on the individual organization websites. Capital University Law School receives new scholarship information throughout the year. Students should regularly monitor this list.

Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan

Federal loans are also an option for students in the J.D. Program.
