Incoming Students: Orientation
Welcome to Capital University Law School! We are glad you have chosen our school to help prepare you for the legal profession, and we look forward to meeting you soon.
The orientation program is designed to help you transition into learning the law and becoming a member of our Law School community. The program will offer workshops on developing the skills to succeed in and out of the classroom, prepare you for your first weeks of class, and navigate student services and activities.
A detailed schedule of orientation activities as well as schedule instructions will be shared here, via email, and on Canvas in the coming weeks.
THE FOLLOWING EVENTS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL INCOMING STUDENTS.
WRITING DIAGNOSTIC
All students will virtually complete a writing diagnostic exercise between Sunday, July 30, and Sunday, August 6.
PRE-ORIENTATION
Choose a window to come to the Law School to pick up your ID, parking permit, and schedule, set up your cell phone/laptop/tablet WiFi access, and tour the Law Library.

Join your classmates, friends and family, and members of the Capital University Law School community for a community welcome featuring remarks from Capital University and Law School leadership.

ACADEMIC ORIENTATION
Daily sessions focus on case reading, briefing, note-taking, legal analysis, exam preparation, and exam-taking skills.

- 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM – Part-Time Evening Students
LAW SCHOOL ORIENTATION
Daily sessions focus on Law School Resources & Policies, Mental Health & Wellness, Professionalism & Ethics, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.
