Douglas W. Squires

Adjunct Professor of Law

Doug SquiresSince 2000, Professor Douglas W. Squires has been assistant United States attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. He prosecutes major white-collar and general crimes, in addition to serving as the Health Care Fraud Coordinator for the Southern District of Ohio.

Squires has been on the adjunct faculty at Capital University Law School since 2001. He developed and currently teaches Forensic Evidence, an advanced evidence course focusing on scientific evidence and the law. The class introduces law students to subjects like explosives, DNA and forensic analysis of computers. Students also analyze traditional sciences and techniques such as lifting fingerprints, understanding human behavior and handwriting analysis.

Squires began his legal career as the deputy district attorney for Tulare County in Visalia, California. He prosecuted violent, street-level crime such as murders, rapes, narcotics and robberies for nearly seven years.

He is the author of the book chapter “Forensic Accounting,” published in Scientific Evidence in Criminal and Civil Cases, 5th Ed., Foundation Press (2007). His other articles include “Problems Solved with Forensic Accounting: A Legal Perspective,” Journal of Forensic Accounting, Vol. IV, No. 2, July - Dec. 2003, and “Law and Much Order,” The White Paper, Topical Issues on White-Collar Crime, published by ACFE, Vol. 17, No. 4, July/Aug. 2003.

Squires holds his J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law and a B.A. from Miami University ( Ohio).
