In 1998, Brian Simms was appointed as an Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor. With extensive trial experience, Brian Simms has prosecuted a multitude of offenders including gang members and other violent offenders. He has served by special assignment in the Gang Unit and DUI Task Force Unit and was appointed by Franklin Co. Prosecutor, Ron O’Brien, to sit on the Franklin Co. Common Pleas Court’s Committee to establish a mental health court. Mr. Simms has been appointed as a special prosecutor in other counties to handle criminal cases. Prior to service in Franklin County, Professor Simms served as an Assistant County Prosecutor in Licking County where he handled both a criminal and civil matters. Professor Simms has acted as a Mayor’s Court Magistrate for several years in both the Village of Hartford and Lithopolis where he presides over a court docket involving various traffic and criminal matters. He also serves as a Senior Adjunct Faculty member at the Keller School of Management of DeVry University where he teaches a course on business law and ethics. A lifelong resident of Franklin County, He is active as a member of several athletic booster, school and community organizations in Westerville, Ohio. |
