Autumn Wine Celebration 2007

Join the National Center for Adoption Law & Policy on Friday, September 28 for a festive evening of wine tasting, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and desserts, live music and silent auction. One dozen fine wines from Tramonte & Sons Distributing will be available to sample, and for the first time this year, guests will have the opportunity to taste a selection of beer from Barley’s Brewing Company. The Autumn Wine Celebration is a great way to spend a Friday evening with colleagues, business associates, friends and family!
Proceeds raised from this event support NCALP education and information resource programs for professionals, law school students and families in Ohio and across the country. With your support, we can improve the lives of children who are in need of safe, permanent homes.

Tobacco Public Policy Center Annual Conference
Building Bridges: Tobacco Control Policy in a Broader Context

The Tobacco Public Policy Center at Capital University Law School will host its third annual conference on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin, Ohio. This one-day conference will focus on how tobacco control advocates and advocates in related fields can work in partnership on shared policy objectives. The conference will bring together experts and advocates from a variety of different fields, including mental health, substance abuse, minority communities, health care, children's issues, and the environment. The keynote speaker will be Michelle Larkin, R.N., M.S., Senior Program Manager for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in Princeton, New Jersey. RWJF is the nation's largest philanthropy devoted exclusively to improving the health and health care of all Americans, and its latest tobacco policy initiative focuses on cutting edge collaborations that directly address disparities in tobacco use and exposure.

Parnterships and Other Unincorporated Entities: You Thought You Knew Everything You Needed to Know

The program will focus on the tax and business aspects of creating and operating a partnership or other unincorporated entity. The speakers will include Darryll Jones, Professor of Law at Stetson University as well as leading local practitioners and speakers from the IRS. The topics will include: Partnership and Operating Agreements, Capital Accounting, 1031 Exchanges When the Owners Disagree, and others.

Handling Workplace Conflicts

Two-day workshop to examine conflicts that creates disruption in the workplace. The seminar focuses on analysis of workplace conflict and building capacity for effectively preventing disputes, de-escalating conflict situations and resolving problems. Interactive exercises, lectures and discussions build skills, attitudes and knowlege for conflict management.

Volunteer judges are needed for the Third Annual National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare & Adoption Law, sponsored by Capital University Law School and the National Center for Adoption Law & Policy.
