Chemerinsky Presents This Year’s Sullivan Lecture

The Capital University Law Review is pleased to announce this academic year’s John E. Sullivan Lecturer—Erwin Chemerinsky, Alston & Bird Professor of Law at Duke University. The lecture will be held at the Columbus Museum of Art Auditorium on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at 2:00 pm. Professor Chemerinsky will speak on “The Emerging Threats to Freedom of the Press.” 1.75 CLE credits are being applied for.

Labor & Employment CLE
March 2, 2005

The Labor and Employment Law Association is hosting a CLE on New Developments in Labor and Employment Law. A reception in celebration of the organization's 10th anniversary will be held afterwards. The program has been approved for 5 CLE.

Wells Conference on Adoption Law to be Held April 1

The Capital University Law Review announces its first annual Wells Conference on Adoption Law on Friday, April 1, 2005. Barbara Bennett-Woodhouse, of the Center on Children & Families at the University of Florida, will kick off the program.

Law School Credited on the Discovery Channel

On Saturday, February 5, 2005, the Discovery Channel aired Guilty or Innocent, a program that profiled Joe D’Ambrosio, an inmate on Ohio’s death row.

Joseph Bodine, formerly with the Ohio Public Defender’s Office, led the investigation into D’Ambrosio’s innocence and presented all the evidence in federal court. Bodine is a Legal Writing Professor at Capital University Law School. While with the Public Defender’s Office, Bodine worked on death penalty cases.

Law School Selected to Operate Ohio's Tobacco Public Policy Center

The Ohio Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Foundation has awarded Capital University Law School a four-year, $1.2 million grant to operate Ohio’s Tobacco Public Policy Center.

Through the use of the Law School’s faculty, staff, and student resources, the Tobacco Public Policy Center will provide legal, legislative drafting, policy options, and policy implementation strategy advice intended to reduce tobacco use and the effects of tobacco.
