It’s the law to protect your employees.Tools You Can Use:To comply with Ohio's Smoke Free Workplace Act, your company must, at a minimum, adopt a smoke-free building policy that prohibits smoking in all indoor areas and immediately outside of all doors, windows, and vents. This will dramatically reduce exposure to secondhand smoke and protect the health of your workers and customers. But keep in mind that you can legally do more to create a healthy workplace and workforce—and many employers already have. The Tobacco Public Policy Center recommends that your business adopt a campus-wide tobacco-free policy that prohibits smoking and tobacco use indoors as well as outdoors on all company property, including the grounds and company vehicles. A campus-wide policy promotes overall health and wellness for all employees and customers, and it may make quitting easier for employees who do smoke. For a model policy and memo you can use to help implement your own tobacco-free campus policy, click here to download our Guide to Tobacco-Free Campuses.
