From the Executive Director

Save the date!! The First Annual Tobacco Public Policy Center Conference will be held on October 20, 2005 in Columbus. The day-long conference will provide information on a wide array of topics in tobacco law and policy for attorneys and tobacco control advocates. We expect many of the sessions to qualify for continuing legal education (CLE) credits.  Space is limited - please register online here.

Doug Blanke, director of the Tobacco Law Center at the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, will provide the keynote address. Blanke helps to coordinate the work of the Tobacco Control Legal Consortium, of which the TPPC is a member. His recent work has included a report for the World Health Organization on the potential globalization of tobacco litigation, a study of the legal issues raised by the sale of cigarettes on the Internet, and assistance to local officials in the development of workplace smoking policies.
