Using Legal Expertise to Reduce Tobacco Use in Ohio

The Tobacco Public Policy Center is a legal resource center for Ohio’s tobacco control community, policymakers, and legal professionals.

Tobacco remains the leading preventable cause of death in Ohio, killing approximately 20,000 Ohioans every year. The costs – to Ohio families, taxpayers, and businesses – are staggering.

Secondhand smoke is costly as well. The U.S. Surgeon General has warned, “there is no risk-free level of exposure to secondhand smoke.” Yet despite substantial progress, too many Ohioans are regularly exposed to secondhand smoke.

Fortunately, at the national, state, and local level, effective policy change can save lives. See how our legal and policy expertise can help control or eliminate tobacco use in Ohio workplaces, in apartments and rental properties, and in many other locations and situations throughout the state.
