2008 Summer Dispute Resolution Institute

July 14 – August 15, 2008

The Summer Dispute Resolution Institute provides students with the opportunity to hone their mediation and dispute resolution skills while attaining course credit for numerous accelerated courses. All courses are taught in the intensive, one week format and are open to JD students from Capital Law School, as well as other law schools, practicing attorneys, and dispute resolution professionals.  

Current Capital University Law School Students
If you are currently a Capital University Law School student, please register as you would a standard course.

Other Law School JD Students
Capital University Law School invites students from other accredited law schools to attend the Summer Dispute Resolution Institute. Courses are taught in an intensive, week-long format by nationally recognized faculty and practitioners in ADR. You will hone your mediation and dispute resolution skills while obtaining course credit.

• With approval from your home institution, you may enroll as a visiting or transient student.
• Please complete the SDR application (PDF) and mail or fax it to the Office of Admission along with a letter of good standing from your home institution.

• Financial aid may be available through your home law school. Check with your Financial Aid Office to determine if you are eligible to receive financial aid to attend.
• The tuition is $1,033 per credit hour.

• Capital also offers an intensive summer course in Adoption Law (Aug. 4-8).
• On-campus housing is available for just $28 per person per night for the duration of each course. Use the registration form to reserve your on-campus room.

Attorneys & ADR Professionals
Capital University Law School invites attorneys and other ADR professionals to enroll in the Summer Dispute Resolution Institute. Courses are taught in an intensive, week-long format by nationally recognized faculty and practitioners in ADR.

• Courses may be applied toward Capital University Law School’s Certificate Program in Mediation and Dispute Resolution.
• Cost is $500/course or two courses for $900, with the exception of the 40-hour Divorce Mediation class which you must enroll for all 5 days and the cost is $925.
• All courses are pending approval for 23 Ohio CLE hours; Divorce Mediation has been approved for 40 CLE hours. For out-of-state attorneys, check with your state licensing agency for approval.
