Law Students Attend "Speak Up For Children" Breakfast
October 21, 2008
On Wed., Oct. 15, Capital University Law School students attended the "Speak Up for Children" breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Columbus. The annual event is held as a fundraiser to raise awareness for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Franklin County, a non-profit agency which provides volunteer guardians ad litem for foster and displaced children in the court system.
Forty-seven law students were joined by Dean Jack A. Guttenberg, National Center for Adoption Law and Policy attorney Dawn Viggiano, and Capital University Law School alumni Judge Anne Taylor, L’79 and Judge Julie Lynch, L’93. Eighteen of the attending students were members of the student group Children and Family Law Advocates. More than 600 people, including many from the local legal community, gathered for the event.
Curt Hochbein, a second-year law student said, "it was nice to see so many students show up to support a great local organization and, at the same time, it gave us the chance to break from the day-to-day law school routine and meet a few of our more distinguished alumni."
