Kravitz Brown & Dortch, LLC and Capital University Law School held the First Annual Max Kravitz Memorial Golf Outing on Mon., Aug. 11, 2008, at the beautiful New Albany Country Club.
Participating in the 18-hole shotgun scramble, 60 golfers competed for prizes on every hole. At the reception held that evening, 100 people gathered to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails.
The golf outing earned support for the recently-established Max Kravitz Memorial Endowment Fund at Capital University Law School. This fund assists with loan repayment for graduates who pursue a criminal defense career in the public sector.
“Max was a champion throughout his life for those who could not afford a proper defense,” said Janet Kravitz. “He would be thrilled to know that the Endowment Fund is being used for this purpose.”
Max Kravitz was a popular legal educator at Capital University Law School and a renowned criminal defense attorney; he passed away Aug. 12, 2007. He practiced criminal law since graduating from Capital University Law School in 1973 and began his career as a public defender. He returned to the Law School two years later as a staff attorney in the Clinic and over the years, he shaped the minds of thousands of students in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, advanced criminal procedure, federal criminal law and capital punishment litigation. He maintained a private practice with his wife, Janet, at the law firm they founded together, Kravitz, Brown & Dortch, LLC.”
