Harley E. Rouda Jr. L’87, and his wife, Kaira Sturdivant Rouda, have committed to establish a $100,000 named endowed fund to support an academic director’s position at Capital University Law School. Dean Jack Guttenberg has selected Associate Professor Angela Upchurch, the academic director of the National Center for Adoption Law & Policy (NCALP), as the first to be named the Real Living Academic Director.
"I am honored to serve as the first Real Living Academic Director," said Professor Upchurch. "This generous donation will provide me with an incredible opportunity to highlight the educational programs we at the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy plan to build to ensure future generations of child welfare and adoption attorneys are well-equipped to handle the ever-changing issues of children and family law. Representing a significant milestone in meeting the goals articulated in the Law School’s strategic plan, the Real Living Academic Director’s fund at Capital University Law School is an exciting development for both the Law School and NCALP.
For several years, Mr. and Mrs. Rouda have been enthusiastic supporters of NCALP. The Roudas were the architects behind NCALP's Autumn Wine Celebration and successfully hosted the fundraiser in their home the first two years.
Harley Rouda is the chief executive officer and managing partner of real estate company, Real Living, Inc., and a member of the Law School’s Board of Counselors. Kaira Sturdivant Rouda is the chief operating officer for Real Living and president of Real Living Network Services.
