Reuniting Capital University Law School alumni and honoring outstanding alumni for their achievements, Alumni Weekend 2007 brought together old and new friends, alumni, faculty and students.

The weekend began Thursday, April 26 with a golf outing at the Foxfire Golf Club. The next morning approximately 70 alumni attended a CLE on Practicing Law Under Ohio's New Rules of Professional Conduct held at the Westin Great Southern Hotel in downtown Columbus. Law School Dean Jack A. Guttenberg, a member of The Supreme Court of Ohio Task Force on Rules of Professional Conduct which developed Ohio’s new rules, led the program that also included Professor Michael Distelhorst, L’76; David W. Hardymon, L’76; Charles J. Kettlewell, L’00; and Heather G. Sowald, L’79.

Following the CLE, the Alumni Awards Luncheon was held to present this year’s awards:

  • J. Miles Gibson, L'78: Josiah H. Blackmore, II Dean's Award

  • Jennifer L. Brunner, L'83: Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award

  • Thomas J. Bonasera, L'75: Alumni Outstanding Service Award

  • Jessica A. Mager, L'01: Young Alumnus of the Year Award

Later that evening, an All Alumni Reception was held at the Law School to bring together alumni, faculty, and staff.

On Saturday, April 28, the Law School hosted the Alumni and Friends day at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium.

“Alumni weekend was a great success and helped us in our ongoing efforts to engage and recognize our alumni,” said Dean Guttenberg. “More than 300 alumni attended the weekend events. I’m pleased to see so many alumni involved in Capital Law School activities.”
