Law School Class of 2006 Breaks Class Gift Record
In the largest graduating class gift participation in its history, members of the Class of 2006 supported their scholarship fund with 74 donors representing 36% of the class. Capital University Law School graduate campaigns have maintained a strong tradition of contributing toward a class gift. The 10-member class gift committee set a goal of securing $25,000 in cash gifts and commitments. Dean Jack Guttenberg challenged the committee to raise a minimum of $2,006 in cash contributions from their class members, promising the faculty and staff would match their cash gifts. The John D. Drinko Matching Challenge Program supported the class by matching donations and commitments up to $250 per donor. In total, donations from the Class of 2006 members, faculty, staff, and alumni secured more than $28,000 in gifts and pledges to establish the “Class of 2006 Students Giving Back to Students Scholarship Fund.” This is a permanent endowed fund that will be invested to generate income. The investment income will provide annual scholarship awards for students in their last year of law school in recognition and appreciation of the Class of 2006. A selection committee comprised of members of the Class of 2006 will select the recipients. Applications for the members of the Class of 2007 will be eligible for the Students Giving Back to Students scholarship in the fall for the Class of 2005 and Class of 2006 scholarships respectfully. An honorarium plaque will be provided to prominently display the engraved names of the recipients of the Class of 2006 Scholarship. If you would like to participate in the Class of 2006 Students Giving Back to Students Campaign, contact Sherri Wilmoth in the CULS Development Office at 236-6602 or swilmoth@law.capital.edu. The Class of 2006 has created a legacy that will provide meaningful support to the future scholars of the law. This scholarship fund is something to be proud of and future generations of CULS alumni will be grateful for the Class of 2006’s commitment to their alma mater. |
