Annual Tax Conference Covers FLPs, Hosts Nationally-known Law ProfessorsMay 8, 2006
Nearly 40 people attended the 2006 Annual Tax Conference at Capital University Law School. The conference explored topics relating to tax and business planning for family limited partnerships (FLPs) by covering issues from estate and gift taxes to income tax considerations and fiduciary duties. Nationally-recognized experts spoke to attendees and local experts provided panel commentary. Speakers included Samuel A. Donaldson, associate professor of law and director of the graduate program in taxation at the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle, Washington; Carter G. Bishop, professor of law at Suffolk University Law School and visiting at George Washington University Law School; and Mitchell M. Gans, Steven A. Horowitz Distinguished professor of tax law at Hofstra University School of law. “What made this conference so special is that most programs dealing with FLPs concentrate only on the Estate and Gift Tax issues and ignore the Income Tax issues and Fiduciary Duty issues, said Professor Myron Grauer, chair of the planning committee for the conference. “This conference gave equal attention to all of those important issues.” Associate Professor and Academic Director of the Graduate Law Programs at Capital University Law School Danshera Cords said, “The conference was a tremendous success. Additionally, all the main speakers are providing the Capital University Law Review with articles for publication.” To receive information about future tax conferences at Capital University
