School Expands Facilities Ribbon Cutting & Open House Sept. 14
September 9, 2005
When
negotiations were underway in the mid-1990s to acquire the current
Law School facilities, there was an unsuccessful attempt to purchase
the building next door, often referred to as the Lindemann Building.
Seven years later, we began experiencing the proverbial space crunch
as we expanded programs, curricular offerings and personnel. Renewed
efforts to purchase the Lindemann Building were successful in 2004,
and renovations to it – now called the Law School Annex –
have been completed for the start of the school year.
The Law School Annex contains two new classrooms,
a new computer lab, additional conference room space, and houses
the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy, the Tobacco Public
Policy Institute, the Paralegal Program, and the IT department.
The classrooms were designed with a movable partition allowing for
the creation of one space with a 150 person theatre-style seating
capacity.
“The acquisition of the Lindemann Building enables
the Law School to own the entire block bordered by Broad, Grant, Capital
and Sixth streets in Columbus’ Discovery District,” says Professor
Athornia Steele who oversaw and coordinated the renovation
of the building with Linda Gorsuch, director of Law School
operations. “It also makes for possible future expansion of the
Law School facilities, 10 to 15 years down the road.”
A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house will be held on
Wed., Sept. 14 at 9:45 am. For more information, contact Jessica
