Law School and Center for Dispute Resolution Present at National Admissions Conference

The annual conference for the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) held in Palm Springs, CA, June 1-4, featured presentations by representatives of Capital University Law School and the Center for Dispute Resolution.

Assistant Dean Linda Mihely

Linda Mihely, assistant dean of admission and financial aid, presented "After Law School -- Who Is the Successful Lawyer" with Jay Conison, dean of Valparaiso University School of Law. The presentation offered examples of non-traditional stories of success and discussed the importance of "hidden gems" to law schools and the legal profession.

Co-Director for the Center for Dispute Resolution, Terrence Wheeler

Terrence Wheeler, co-director for the Center for Dispute Resolution at Capital University Law School, presented "Admission Professionals as Negotiators". The session was designed to introduce the basics of negotiation as it relates to the job of the admission professional and to provide suggestions and techniques to use in negotiation situations.

Associate Dean and Professor Athornia Steele served as moderator for both both sessions. Dean Steele is a member of LSAC's board of trustees and has been appointed chair of the minority affairs committee beginning June 2005.

LSAC is a nonprofit corporation whose members include more than 200 law schools in the United States and Canada. All law schools approved by the American Bar Association are LSAC members.
