Annual Wells Conference on Adoption Law, April 1, 2005
Sponsored by the Capital University Law Review, the first
annual Wells Conference on Adoption Law, Illuminating the Child’s
Perspective, will take place Fri., April 1, 2005, in room 242 at the Law
School. Admission is free to students and the general public; however,
there is fee of $10 for 6.75 hours of CLE credit approved by the Ohio
Supreme Court.
Lead presenter Barbara Bennett-Woodhouse, director for the Center on
Children and Families and the David H. Levin chair in Family Law at the
University of Florida Levin College of Law, will speak on the child’s
perspective on international, transracial, and child welfare adoption
issues. Additional presenters include Elizabeth Bartholet of Harvard Law
School, D. Marianne Blair of the University of Tulsa College of Law, Martin
Guggenheim of New York University College of Law, and Cynthia Hawkins-Leon
of Stetson University College of Law.

This conference is named in honor of Professor Emeritus N. Douglas Wells
who passed away last summer. To show its appreciation for his contributions
to the law school in the area of Family Law, the Law Review dedicated
this academic conference to a study of issues arising in adoption and
child welfare.
