Larimer (oralist) of Newark, OH, second year evening student Matthew MacLaren
(oralist) of Mogadore, OH, and second year day student David Grimmett
(brief writer) of Clarksville, TN. Professor Daniel C. Turack was the

To win the competition, the Capital University Law School team competed
against teams from 36 law schools from all parts of the country. Before
getting to the championship round, Larimer and MacLaren successfully argued
against teams from Cleveland State, Florida State, Loyola of New Orleans,
Seton Hall and the University of Miami. In the championship round, Larimer
and MacLaren prevailed against the team representing South Texas College
of Law.
The Capital University Law School Sports Law Moot Court Team has won this
prestigious event in two out of the past three years. During that span,
the teams have not lost a single round. “I look forward to the day
when the Capital brief wins 'first place' and receives recognition for
that accomplishment,” said Professor Turack.
The finals were held in the en banc Court Room at the Fifth Circuit Court
of Appeals. Previous rounds were held at the Civil Court in New Orleans.
The Mardi Gras Invitational National Sports Law Competition is an appellate
advocacy tournament with an established reputation for excellence.
