
Law School Sponsors Panel Discussion: 50 Years Later: Brown v. Board of EducationJanuary 14 2004 Capital University Law School celebrates Martin Luther King Day by sponsoring a panel discussion on the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas. The panel discussion will take place in Capital’s Ruff Memorial Learning Center room 260 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Panelists include Law School Professors Mark Brown, Shirley Mays, Mark Strasser, and Floyd Weatherspoon. The Law School’s director of student and minority affairs, Torian Lee, will moderate the discussion. The forum will focus on the impact of the landmark decision on local and national levels. Additional topics will include progress since the decision and what remains to be done to maintain and improve access and equality. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka Kansas, which declared racial discrimination in public education unconstitutional.
