Adoption Center Hosts Photo Exhibit of Adoptable Children in Foster CareMarch 2, 2004 The National Center for Adoption Law & Policy at Capital University Law School is hosting a photo exhibit featuring children in the Franklin County Children Services foster-to-adopt program. Visitors can view the exhibit through April in the windows of the 325 E. Broad Street office of the National Center for Adoption Law & Policy. Each of the black-and-white images was taken, hand-developed and donated by Tom Dubanowich, a Grandview, Ohio-based professional photographer.
The photos are also featured in a calendar distributed by Franklin County Children Services to raise awareness about children in foster care and their need for permanent homes. Other sponsors of the calendar include the Franklin Park Conservatory, Shremshock Architects, Inc., The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Adopt-a-Child Foundation. There are presently more than 200 children in the permanent custody of Franklin County Children Services waiting to be adopted. About 80 per cent are African American children age 3 and older, and white children age 8 and older. Many of these waiting children are teenagers, part of a sibling group and/or children who have special needs. For more information about the foster-to-adopt program, call Franklin
