Capital
University Law School Co-Sponsors Live Supreme Court Forum Oct. 21
On Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm, the
Ohio News Network (ONN) will televise a live forum of six Ohio Supreme
Court candidates. The forum is co-sponsored by Capital University Law
School, ONN and the Ohio League of Women Voters.
The six Ohio Supreme Court candidates are involved in contested elections
this year. The candidates are: Judge William O’Neill verse Justice
Terrence O’Donnell; Judge Nancy Fuerst verse Judge Judith Lanzinger;
and Chief Justice Thomas Moyer verse retired Judge C. Ellen Connally.
The forum will take place at the newly renovated Ohio Judicial Center
in which the Supreme Court is located. The first hour of the forum will
feature questions presented to the four candidates running for Associate
Justice positions on the Court —Judge O’Neill, Justice O’Donnell,
Judge Fuerst and Judge Lanzinger. A 30 minute question period directed
at the two Chief Justice candidates — Chief Justice Moyer and retired
Judge Connally — will follow.
Capital University Law School students will serve as pages for the candidates
for this event and Law School students may pose questions to the candidates.
Although the forum will be live, there will not be a live audience. Those
interested in watching should watch the program live on ONN at 8:30 pm
on Thursday, Oct. 21.
