
Law School Students Miller, Schaeffer Win First Year Moot Court CompetitionMarch 2, 2004 This year’s annual First Year Competition run by the Capital University Moot Court Board and sponsored by the law firm of Lane Alton and Horst, LLC, was a tremendous success. Nearly 100 Capital Law School First Year students performed with distinction. The final round was held Thursday, February 26 at 6:00 pm at the U.S. District Courthouse in Judge Algenon Marbley’s ceremonial courtroom. After excellent arguments from both finalist teams, day students Dan Miller and Scott Schaeffer won the competition. Miller was designated best oralist. This year’s second place winners were evening students Kelly Jines-Storey and James Burkart. Judges for the final round included three federal court judges: Judge James Graham, chief justice for the Southern District of Ohio, Judge Algenon Marbley and Judge Edmund Sargus. The other judges were Interim Dean Athornia Steele, Rick Marsh, partner of Lane Alton and Horst, LLC, and Wes Newhouse, Esquire.
