Professor Speaks on Art, Censorship and Law as Part of Faculty Development
Program
Professor Amy Adler of the New York University School of
Law will speak on art and censorship on Wednesday, March 5 from 12:00
p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Capital University Law School. Her presentation is
sponsored by Capital University Law School and the Columbus College of
Art & Design as part of the Law School's annual faculty development
series.
Professor Adler is a national expert on art, censorship and the law. Her
scholarship focuses on the intersection of First Amendment Law and cultural
theory. Her work draws on the arts and humanities to explore problems
of language, interpretation and sexuality that have particular relevance
for first amendment doctrine and theory. Professor Adler's recent publications
include "The Perverse Law of Child Pornography," published in volume 101
of the Columbia Law Review, "Inverting the First Amendment," in volume
149 of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and "The Art of Censorship,"
published in volume 103 of the West Virginia Law Review. A graduate of
Yale University and Yale Law School, Professor Adler was a litigation
associate at Debevoise and Plimpton and then a Fellow at the Freedom Forum
Media Studies Center before joining the faculty at NYU.
