Capital Law School Presents Forum: September 11 & the Challeges for Today's Lawyer

Sept. 5, 2002

On Sept. 11, 2002, Capital University Law School students and faculty will discuss the challenges facing today’s lawyers since last Sept. 11. The panel discussion, “September 11 and the Challenges for Today’s Lawyer,” will begin at 12:15 p.m. in Room 242. The Law School is located at 303 E. Broad Street; the event is free and open to the public.
“Since the events of last September, attorneys have been on the front line defending and protecting the rule of law and seeking justice. Wednesday’s program provides us an opportunity to reflect on the changes that have taken place in our system of justice since last year,” said Dean Steven C. Bahls.

Capital University Law Professor Susan Looper-Friedman will discuss racial profiling and the erosion of civil liberties under the U.S.P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act. Jagdeep Bhandari, a visiting professor of law from Florida Coastal School of Law, will speak on issues of immigration law since Sept. 11. Capital University Law School Professor Rachel Janutis will discuss remedies for the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks and other acts of terrorism, and Capital University Law School Professor Dennis Hirsch will discuss the role of the lawyer in responding to the events of last September.
