Kobil was quoted in the Wall Street Journal on December 24, 2003 in an article by Gary Fields entitled Bush Is Scrooge When It Comes to Pardons -- Tough Stance Part of Broader View; Only Two Presidents Have Exonerated Fewer. [ Read the Article ] November 2003Professor Daniel T. Kobil testified before the American Bar Association's (ABA) Justice Kennedy Commission at George Washington University on November 12, 2003. He spoke about how the clemency power can be revived. [ more ] Professor Rachel Janutis presented "Reforming Reprehensibility: The Continued Viability of Multiple Punitive Damages After Gore and Campbell" at the Third Remedies Discussion Forum hosted by the Washington & Lee University School of Law and the University of Louisville's Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, November 2003. The papers are scheduled to appear in an upcoming issue of the University of San Diego Law Review. October 2003On October 8, 2003, Professor Lance Tibbles lectured as a part of a panel at the Ohio State University Medical Center on the topic, How Much is Too Much? Science, Ethics, & Frankenstein. Professor Tibbles addressed the ethical & legal issues in genetic enhancement of human traits and in producing hybrid humans and animals. On October 4, 2003, Professor Dennis Hirsch spoke at the Society for Evolutionary Analysis in Law (SEAL) Sixth Annual Scholarship Conference. His talk was titled Intelligent Design Advocacy at the Federal and State Levels. September 2003On September 19, Robert C. Berry, Visiting Professor of Law at Capital University Law School, spoke at the 2003 Sports Law Conference hosted by Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. Professor Berry, a nationally knows sports and entertainment law expert, spoke about the globalization of sports. He discussed the current expansion of sports internationally and whether global sports leagues are realistic in the future. He also contrasted such international competitions as the Olympics with the greater problems posed by competition on a regular basis by teams from different parts of the globe. August 2003Trustees Professor of Law Mark Strasser was quoted in the Daily Reporter article, Beneath the rhetoric, marriage debate involves legal issues, state interest, on August 18, 2003. Professor Strasser is nationally known for his research in family law and has recently released two books on marriage and same-sex unions. Professor David Mayer was interviewed for a feature article, "Crackdown: Music downloaders wary but unafraid of record-industry lawsuits" (discussing copyright law), in The Columbus Dispatch, published August 6, 2003. In August 2003, Professor Dennis Hirsch was re-appointed for a second term as Chair of the American Bar Association, Section of Environment, Energy and Resources, Committee on Innovation, Management Systems and Trading. The Committee is a 120-member group of government, private, NGO and academic lawyers that focuses on alternative approaches to environmental regulation. The Committee examines the legal and policy issues that these innovative programs raise and seeks to educate the environmental, energy and resources law bars on these subjects. June 2003 Professor

an interview with WOSU, Public Radio, "Charitable Choice and the
Constitution;" the other was an appearance as a panelist on Community
Tapestry, Government Channel 3, "Religious Accommodation." March 2003March 12, Professor Mike Distelhorst spoke at the Ohio Society of CPAs. His address was entitled "Business and Professional Ethics." February 2003February 27, Professor Mike Distelhorst spoke at the Ohio Judicial College, Appellate Judges Seminar. February 7, Professor Mike Distelhorst delivered a speech entitled "Ethical Duties of Boards of Trustees" at Lutheran Social Services. February 6, Professor Mike Distelhorst spoke at the Ohio Judicial College, Association of Municipal/County Judges of Ohio, Inc. Winter 2003 Meeting. His address was entitled "Substance Abuse and Mental Health Issues in the Legal Profession." January 2003January 30, Professor Mike Distelhorst delivered a speech on business ethics at the Rotary International (Powell Chapter). January 9, Professor Mike Distelhorst appeared before Rotary International (Westerville Chapter) and spoke on business ethics.
