bberry2.jpg (18 KB)Robert Berry is a nationally known sports and entertainment law expert. He has been a member of the law faculty at Boston College since 1971 and has served as a visiting professor at Capital Law School where he taught Entertainment Law. A frequent television and radio commentator on sports law and contract issues, Berry is a consultant in the sports and entertainment industries and has consulted for several sports management companies, law firms and the Boston Red Sox. In 1972, Berry introduced the first law school course pertaining to legal problems in professional and amateur sports. He was the first chair of the American Bar Association's Sports Division of the Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries and later served on the Governing Committee. He also organized the first national sports law conference in the United States. Berry is the author of several books and articles about the sports and entertainment industries, including Law and Business of the Entertainment Industries, 4th ed. (Westport, Connecticut: Praeger Publishers 2001); Law and Business of the Sports Industries: Common Issues in Amateur and Professional Sports, 2nd ed. (Westport, Connecticut: Praeger Publishers, 1993) and Labor Relations in Professional Sports (Dover, Massachusetts: Auburn House, 1986).
