
Faculty BiosEdward J. Bernert
Bernert has an active practice before the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and upon appeal to the courts. In addition to tax litigation, he represents national companies for Ohio tax matters on a continuing basis related to matters of compliance and state and local tax planning. Bernert is Chief Editor of Ohio Tax Review, published by the Graduate Studies Office, Capital University Law & Graduate Center, and is a frequent contributor to the publication. He is a past Chairman of the State and Local Government Tax Section of the Columbus Bar Association. He lectures frequently on Ohio tax matters, and his writings on the Ohio sales and use tax are used as a training manual by the Ohio Department of Taxation. Bernert is a member of The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association Taxation Committee and the Ohio and American Bar Association Taxation Committees. Recently, he prepared a report on Ohio tax audits and appeals on behalf of The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association.
