Angela Upchurch
Associate Professor of Law

B.A., summa cum laude, Loyola University Chicago, 1998;
J.D., magna cum laude, Loyola University Chicago School of Law, 2001.

Professor Angela Upchurch teaches Children, Families and the State; Civil Procedure; Dispute Resolution and Adoption Law. In 2007, Upchurch was named Real Living Academic Director at the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy.

Prior to joining Capital, she was a law clerk to The Hon. Michael Murphy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Salt Lake City. She previously served as law clerk to The Hon. Avern Cohn of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Professor Upchurch graduated first in her class at Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she was editor-in-chief of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal and recipient of the Loyola University Chicago Presidential Medallion. She is a contributing author of the book, ABA Center on Children and the Law, A Judge's Guide: Making Child-Centered Decisions in Custody Cases (2001). Her research interests include procedural law and issues related to children and the law.
