Mediation

The Center regularly provides mediation services to businesses, insurance companies, universities, government agencies, community organizations, membership organizations, and individuals.

Mediation is a confidential process in which a neutral third party provides a structure for assisting disputing parties to resolve their conflict. Mediation is used to resolve disputes involving many issues including:

  • commercial contracts,

  • divorce,

  • workplace disagreements,

  • personal injury claims and

  • labor-management contracts.

Mediation is usually a voluntary process in which parties are given an opportunity to share their perspectives, listen to the other party’s perspective, generate potential solutions to the conflict, and reach a mutually agreeable resolution to the conflict.

Benefits

Mediation is often an excellent first step to resolving disputes because it is less complicated, less time consuming and less costly than the traditional litigation process.
