Summer Dispute Resolution Institute

July 14 –August 15, 2008
Excellent CLE Opportunity!

Capital University Law School invites attorneys and other ADR professionals to enroll in the Summer Dispute Resolution Institute. Courses are taught in an intensive, week-long format by nationally recognized faculty and practitioners in ADR.

Courses Offered:

  • Dispute Resolution (July 14-18; 8 am-1:10 pm)

  • General Arbitration (July 14-18; Noon-5:10 pm)

  • Labor & Employment Arbitration (July 21-25; Noon-5:10 pm)

  • Divorce Mediation (July 28-Aug. 1; 8:30 am-6 pm)

  • Health Care & Dispute Resolution (July 28-Aug. 1; Noon-5:10 pm)

  • Negotiation ( Aug. 4-8; 8 am-1:10 pm)

  • Multidisciplinary ADR: Impact of Culture & Gender on Negotiation & Mediation (Aug. 4-8; Noon-5:10 pm) taught by Nina Meierding, national leader in the field of conflict resolution and former president of the Academy of Family Mediators

  • Business Negotiation (an online course that may be taken from anywhere; Aug. 11-15; 8 am-1:10 pm)

More Details:

  • Courses may be applied toward Capital University Law School’s Certificate Program in Mediation and Dispute Resolution.

  • Cost is $500/course or two courses for $900, with the exception of the 40-hour Divorce Mediation class in which you must enroll for all 5 days and the cost is $925.

  • All courses are pending approval for 23 Ohio CLE hours; Divorce Mediation has been approved for 40 CLE hours.

Bar Exam Tailgates

Each day of the bar exam, complimentary breakfast (7:30 – 8:30 am, July 29-31) and lunch (12:00 – 1:00 pm, July 29-30) are provided for Capital University Law School alumni in the parking lot at Veterans Memorial.

Upon completion of the bar exam on July 31, come celebrate with your family, friends, Alumni Office and fellow survivors with complimentary food and beverages at Plank’s Bier Garten (888 South High St, Columbus, OH) from 12:15 to 3:00 pm.

Summer Adoption Law Institute (CLE available)

Aug. 4-8, 2008,

The National Center for Adoption Law & Policy’s Summer Adoption Law Institute will offer attorneys the opportunity to earn 4.5 to 24.5 CLE hours. Register for the week-long course or any day(s) for only $100 per day. Course topics include: history of American law of adoption; parental rights under the U.S. Constitution; assisted reproductive technology; wrongful adoption; race, culture and sexual orientation issues in adoption. 1st Annual Max Kravitz Memorial Golf Outing at New Albany Country Club

The Max Kravitz Memorial Golf Outing begins at 11:30 am with a lunch buffet followed by a 1:00 pm start to an 18-hole shotgun scramble. At 6:00 pm, join us for a reception. This event supports the Max Kravitz Memorial Endowment Fund at Capital Law School. Golf and reception are $350 per person; the reception only is $125 per person.
