African American Law Alumni Association

The African American Law Alumni Association provides personalized mentoring to African-American students, participating each year with the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) in a welcoming reception for entering students. Additionally, since 1990, the Association has provided scholarship funds, four awards annually, in honor of David D. White, the Law School's first African-American graduate in 1931.

Throughout his career, David D. White served the community in a variety of capacities. He practiced law for more than 57 years as a partner in the firm of Bell, White and Ross. He was a member of the Columbus Bar Association Board of Governors, the Ohio Public Defender Commission, the Ohio State Bar Association's Council of Delegates and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. Mr. White died in 1992.
