J.D./LL.M. in Taxation

One of only five law schools in the country to offer a combined JD/LL.M. degree program, Capital Law School uniquely prepares students to tackle the challenging world of tax law. With a dual degree in law and taxation, graduates of the program are fully equipped to meet the needs of employers and clients who demand a solid working knowledge of tax law, the ability to research tax matters and decipher the ever-changing tax code. Dual degree candidates may also aspire to work in the fields of estate planning and probate; corporate or partnership tax; mergers and acquisitions; or sales and dissolutions of businesses. With the solid background this comprehensive and challenging program provides, students are well prepared to choose from a wide variety of specialties.

Once a student has completed Federal Personal Income Tax, he or she may take up to twelve hours of elective credits in advanced tax courses while pursuing the JD degree. Upon graduation with the JD, the student would enroll in the LL.M. program and complete the remaining twelve credit hours required for the LL.M. degree in one semester of full-time study. Full-time students can typically complete this joint degree in just 3 1/2 years, rather than the four years typically required to pursue both degrees separately.
